Melissa was brutally stabbed outside of her home by her estranged husband, who then killed himself while there 3-year-old son was inside the house. Court records show that he had terrorized Melissa on numerous occasions during their 4-year marriage in what sounded like severe coercive control . After obtaining her second order of protection against her Ex in late November, Melissa hired an attorney to file divorce papers in January. “He had threatened to take away their 3-year-old son,” Melissa stated, "he has no means to care for him. He has sent me threatening messages throughout the day verbally abusing me." Melissa leaves behind 3 children.
