In a shocking murder in broad daylight on the upper east side on Manhattan, Marisa was fatally shot by her ex mother-in-law as she was loading a stroller into the car trunk. The news reports that the killer was terminally ill with cancer, as if to create sympathy for her, but she killed Marisa in the most callous way with her young baby in the car. She then turned the gun on herself.

Marisa and her ex partner had one child together, a 4-year-old daughter, who was with him at the time of her murder. They had been in family court continuously since 2021 and the case was still on going when her life was taken. The news reports that the killer’s son knew nothing about this, but in his mother’s 7-page suicide note to police in her pocket, she stated how she felt Marisa was trying to alienate the toddler from her son - adding she suspected Marisa of abusing the 4-year old. But child protective services had cleared Marisa in two probes launched by her Ex during the case, and accounts of friends and family said that “Marisa was nothing but a doting mother.”

There had been five domestic violence reports on record and two other complaints connected to the family, according to police. But no arrests or restraining orders had ever been made.

Marisa leaves behind 2 young daughters. Custody litigation continues now with her parents trying to have access of their 4-year-old granddaughter as Marisa’s Ex has run off to Chicago and barred them from any contact with her, even a video call. The grandparents have custody of Marisa’s 1-year old baby, who was conceived by a sperm donor (thank God.)
