Salathia was shot and killed by her estranged husband amidst their divorce. He then killed himself. They had been in family court in 2023 when she sought a protective order for herself and her children, as well as filing for divorce. That was withdrawn though, until divorce was filed again in May 2024. This was contested and they were scheduled for discovery and court ordered mediation. They shared one child together, a daughter who was just 9 years old at the time of her parents deaths.
Friends and family beam when they talk about Salathia, saying what an amazing mother she was. She was also an accomplished businesswoman and prominent real estate broker in the area.
Her husband had spent some time in family court prior to the cases with Salathia. He was in court for 3 years with a prior partner on a paternity case, along with a contested divorce with a different partner in 2010. He had a history of egregious litigation.
Salathia leaves behind 3 children and a new 5-week-old grandaughter.
