Lakeyshia was shot and killed outside her home after dropping her children to school. Her Ex Partner had wanted custody of the 3 children they had together and a judge had just granted sole custody to Lakeyshia four days prior. She had filed for a restraining order in October 2023 but a Judge denied that. They had been in Family Court for 5 years for Paternity, Child Support and Custody ending with an order in Sept 2021 for the father to have sole custody. A new custody case began in Oct 2021 which initially began as a motion for joint custody but then later the GAL recommended sole legal custody to Lakeyshia. She leaves behind 8 children.
