Note, on the rare occasions* when a mother has committed a murder-suicide during separation/divorce, such as in this case, we can only assume that it was an act of utter desperation after enduring unbearable conditions that she, and her children, were exposed to in the home and the family court system. WeSpoke does not condone such acts of violence and whilst there is no excuse to take a human life, it is important to include these women as ‘mothers lost’ to the system and men’s control.
* Of the 1,000 children who were murdered by a divorcing/separating parent in the U.S., the killer was 70% Father, 18% Mother, 13% Other. For more statistics and data on children murdered by a separating/divorcing parent, visit Center for Judicial Excellence
