Tracy Bloch Lechner
March 30, 2023 - Englewood, CO
Age 42
Tracy was shot and killed by her estranged husband, one day before their divorce was to be finalized to “avoid divorce and have sole custody of the children.” Tracy leaves behind two children.
Tracy’s mom spoke at her funeral and said she was an abused woman and had an unbridled fear of losing her children while trying to navigate a broken family court system on a daily basis. She described the abuse of women in a court system designed to nullify their complaints. She spoke of PREs - parental rights evaluators with no training in abuse who charge large sums to families, and no one checks on their credentials, and Tracy had done research on them. She spoke of many judges and lawyers who are not trained to recognize abuse, and she said Tracy wanted to change the system and make a difference.
Her estranged husband was under a restraining order when he murdered her.
At the court hearing, Tracy Lechner's brother, Benjamin Bloch, said his sister had been living in a rental property due to a flood in her home and her husband wasn't supposed to know where she lived due to a custody ruling. He claimed he had not only abused his wife, but also the two children. Tracy’s husband was sentenced to life in prison for her murder.
The family stressed times her husband had allegedly lied to a family court judge, avoided paying childcare despite having access to "substantial funds," and had written several of their addresses down on paper found in his car, Dr. Cliff Bloch said, Tracy’s father.
As a lawyer herself, Tracy helped other domestic abuse victims navigate the court system.
