Brandy died by suicide after shooting and killing her two children. She had been in court with her Ex-husband on custody issues for 8 years, where she was pro se, whilst her Ex had an attorney. Primary residential custody of their 10-year old son was being switched from Brandy in Florida to the child’s father in Maine at the time of the murder-suicide.

Note, on the rare occasions* when a mother has committed a murder-suicide during separation/divorce, such as in this case, we can only assume that it was an act of utter desperation after enduring unbearable conditions that she, and her children, were exposed to in the home and the family court system.
